Liz is a progressive political activist who has spent her life working with cutting edge NGOs that are about creating social change. She has a history with Greenpeace spanning more than 30 years, including seven years on staff leading the fundraising team that helped establish the organization’s major donor and planned giving programs and two terms as an elected member of the Greenpeace Inc Board of Directors. She joined the Greenpeace Fund Board in 2008 and has served as chair since 2018.
Professionally, she worked for 15 years as a civil rights and legal services lawyer in Mississippi before turning to full-time work with national non-profit organizations, primarily managing fundraising, finance, human resources, compliance and governance functions. She has worked for the National Organization for Women (NOW), the largest grassroots feminist organization in the US; Advanced Energy United, a national and state policy shop for clean energy companies; and the FrameWorks Institute, a progressive communications think tank supporting the work of social change organizations globally. She retired from employment in June of 2025.
In addition to her work with the Greenpeace boards, Liz served for 12 years on the National Board of the ACLU and 21 years on the board of the ACLU of Virginia.
